Vinton, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a scheduled lane closure on Interstate 10 Westbound in Vinton, set to take place from September 30 to October 2, 2024. The closure will affect the right lane of I-10 Westbound, starting from mile marker 10 (Coone Gully Bridge) to exit 8, as well as the exit 8 ramp.
According to the DOTD, the closure is necessary to allow crews to perform shoulder reconstruction. This maintenance work aims to ensure the road remains safe and functional for drivers. Shoulder reconstruction involves repairing and rebuilding the shoulder of the road, which is the area between the traffic lane and the road’s edge. This work is essential for maintaining road safety and preventing erosion.
To minimize disruptions, the DOTD has provided alternative routes for motorists. For those traveling west on I-10, an alternate route is available by exiting onto LA 27 at exit 21, then turning left onto US 90 West. From there, drivers can turn left onto LA 3063 in Vinton and use the on-ramp to re-enter I-10 Westbound.
Motorists intending to use exit 8 on I-10 Westbound to reach LA 108 will need to take a detour. They should continue traveling west on I-10 Westbound and take exit 7, going south to enter I-10 Eastbound. From there, they can continue on I-10 Eastbound to exit 8 for LA 108.
The closure is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance to avoid potential delays and to follow the recommended detours.
The DOTD urges drivers to exercise caution and patience during the closure period. By performing this essential maintenance work, the department aims to ensure the safety and efficiency of the road network for all users.
