Calcasieu Parish and Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced lane closures on US 165 at Interstate 10 in Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis Parishes. The closures are set to begin on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 7 p.m. and will last until 5 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024.

According to the DOTD, the lane closures are necessary for crews to install concrete girders. A concrete girder is a type of structural support used in bridge construction, typically made of reinforced concrete. In this case, the girders will be installed as part of ongoing maintenance and improvement work on the US 165 bridge over I-10.

The lane closures will affect both northbound and southbound traffic on US 165. The southbound right lane will be closed from the I-10 Westbound on-ramp to the I-10 Eastbound on-ramp. The northbound left lane will be closed from the I-10 off-ramp to the overpass.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra time to reach their destinations. The DOTD recommends checking for updates on traffic conditions before embarking on their journey.

The installation of concrete girders is a routine procedure that is necessary to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the bridge.
