Updates Issued for West Prien Lake Road and Weaver Road Projects in Lake Charles
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles has issued the following updates regarding two separate road construction projects.
Regarding the West Prien Lake Road Widening Project, the road is anticipated to reopen to north and southbound traffic on Friday, December 16, 2022, at around 12 p.m.
Eastbound and westbound Sale Road traffic between Burton Lane and West Prien Lake Road will continue to be restricted to local traffic only. This closure will continue so that the next phase of the widening project can be completed.
As a traffic calming measure, a two-way stop will be implemented at the intersection of West Prien Lake Road and West Sale Road to facilitate the flow of traffic.
At both the north and south approaches to the crossing, motorists are notified of a downward grade change on West Prien Lake Road. This will enable a transition from the present asphalt route to the newly constructed intersection’s concrete surface. Drivers should approach the intersection with caution.
It is recommended that drivers in this region continue to account for additional travel time, particularly during peak hours, such as school arrival and dismissal times.
There will be warning signs in place. This region will continue to be a construction zone, and reduced speed limits will be posted and enforced.
Work also continues on the unrelated Weaver Road drainage and sidewalk project as part of the Weaver Road Drainage and Sidewalk Project. This project is still anticipated to be finished by the end of February 2023, weather permitting.
