Unrestrained Louisiana Woman Killed in Crash on US 371, Child Seat Saves Infant

Louisiana – On May 13, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers assigned to LSP Troop G began investigating a one-vehicle fatality crash on US Highway 371, just south of Pietsch Road, shortly before 10:30 a.m. Amber Holman, 34, of Ringgold, LA. Holman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The initial investigation revealed that Holman was driving a 2006 Honda Accord north on US Highway 371. Holman left the road and collided with a tree for unknown reasons.
Holman was not restrained and was taken to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where she was pronounced dead. A properly restrained infant passenger in a child seat was not injured, but was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport for evaluation.

Although impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, routine toxicology samples were collected and sent for analysis. The crash is still being investigated.

While not all crashes are avoidable, statistics show that using seat belts and child seats correctly reduces your chances of being injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that everyone in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, wear their seat belts at all times.

Louisiana State Police said that in 2022, Troop G has investigated 12 fatal crashes, resulting in 13 deaths.
