Unrestrained Louisiana Woman Killed in Crash on LA 440, Charges Pending
Louisiana– On July 25, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers from LSP Troop L began investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 440 at the LA Hwy 1061 intersection in Tangipahoa Parish shortly after 10:30 a.m. Shaquanti Moore, 35, of Kentwood, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The crash occurred when a 2000 Ford F-150 driven by 25-year-old David Hyde Jr. of Amite, Louisiana, was stopped at a stop sign in the southbound lane of LA Hwy 1061 near the intersection with LA Hwy 440. Moore was driving an eastbound 2017 Jeep Wrangler on LA Hwy 440 at the same time. The Ford failed to yield at the posted stop sign and drove into the intersection for unknown reasons. The Ford collided with the left side of the Jeep as it approached the intersection. The Jeep overturned after colliding with the Ford.
Moore was unrestrained and ejected from the Jeep. She died as a result of her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hyde was properly restrained and sustained no injuries. Toxicology samples from Hyde and Moore were obtained for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation. This crash is still being investigated, and charges are pending.
Louisiana State Police said that while not all accidents are avoidable, statistics show that wearing your seat belt properly reduces your chances of being injured or killed in an accident. Louisiana law requires that everyone in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, wear their seat belts at all times. Wearing your seat belt correctly is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries in a car accident.
