Unrestrained Louisiana Man Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash on LA 557
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on June 29, 2022, that on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, shortly after 6:00 p.m., LSP Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 557 north of LA Hwy 4. Joseph A. Ford IV, 34, of West Monroe, Louisiana was killed in this accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ford IV was driving a 2008 GMC Envoy south on LA Hwy 557. His vehicle exited the roadway and collided with a tree for unknown reasons.
Louisiana State Police reported that Ford, who was not restrained, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Although impairment is not suspected, a toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash is still being investigated.
Louisiana State Troopers want to remind drivers that buckling up is the most effective way to protect themselves in the event of a car accident. Failure to buckle up for a few seconds can have disastrous consequences. Every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, is required by Louisiana law to be properly restrained at all times.
Troop F has investigated 16 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 20 fatalities.
