Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash on LA 34
Winn Parish, Louisiana – An unrestrained Louisiana man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash on LA 34.
Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated on March 12, 2023, that on March 11, 2023, LSP Troop E responded to a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 34 west of Louisiana Highway 471. Thomas Evans, 37, of Atlanta, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The initial inquiry found that Evans was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala west on Louisiana Highway 34. Evans’ vehicle exited the road for unknown reasons, colliding with many obstacles before rolling onto its roof.
Evans, who was not restrained at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Routine toxicological samples were collected and analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.
LSP indicated that while not all accidents are avoidable, correct use of seat belts can significantly lower an occupant’s risk of death and injury. Making certain that all occupants are properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
Troop E has investigated 12 fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in 13 deaths.
