Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Single-Vehicle July 10 Crash on I-20

Bossier Parish – Louisiana State Police reported that on Sunday, July 10, 2022, just before 3:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to LSP Troop G began investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash on I-20, just east of LA Hwy 157. Jerry Calvin Lynn, 78, of Bossier City, Louisiana, was not restrained, and was killed in the crash.

The initial investigation revealed Lynn was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup west on I-20. Lynn ran off the road and hit a tree for unknown reasons.
Lynn was not restrained, and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Louisiana State Police, impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash; however, toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. The crash is still being investigated.

LSP said that buckling up is the most effective way to protect yourself in the event of a car accident. Failure to take a few seconds to buckle up can have disastrous consequences. Every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, is required by Louisiana law to be properly restrained at all times.

So far In 2022, Troop G has investigated 20 fatal crashes, resulting in 21 deaths.
