Reserve, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday night, December 2, 2025, on LA 44 at West Seventh Street in St. John the Baptist Parish. The incident claimed the life of 44-year-old Justin Stout of Paulina.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop B, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. as Stout was driving eastbound on LA 44 in a 2008 Ford F-150. Investigators say the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection with West Seventh Street.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the Ford ran off the right side of the roadway. Troopers report that Stout then overcorrected, which caused him to lose control of the truck. The vehicle crossed over to the left side of the roadway, struck a raised curb, and then hit a utility pole.
State Police say the impact was severe. Stout, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Troopers noted that impairment is unknown at this time. As in most fatal crashes, routine toxicology tests are being conducted, and results are pending. No other vehicles or people were reported to be involved in the incident.
The roadway in this area of LA 44 is a commonly traveled route in St. John the Baptist Parish, and crashes involving speed and loss of control are a recurring concern for traffic safety officials.
