Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Rollover Crash on LA 118 After Colliding with Tree Stump
Louisiana – On August 19, 2022, at approximately 6:20 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a deadly crash on Louisiana Highway 118. (Clifton Road). Gregory Shackleford, 51, of Mora, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
According to Louisiana State Police, the initial inquiry found that Shackleford was driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler west on Louisiana Highway 118. Shackleford’s vehicle veered off the right side of the road and collided with a large tree stump before overturning for unknown reasons.
Shackleford, who was unrestrained, died as a result of his injuries. A toxicological sample was collected and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.
While not all accidents are avoidable, correct use of seat belts can significantly lower an occupant’s risk of death and injury. Making certain that all occupants are properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
Troop E has investigated 28 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 30 deaths.
