Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Nighttime Crash on LA 157 in Bossier Parish

Bossier Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man who was not restrained was killed in a nighttime crash on LA 157 in Bossier Parish.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, Troopers of Louisiana State Police Troop G commenced an inquiry into a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred on LA Hwy 157, north of LA Hwy 528. Regrettably, 80-year-old Terry Roath of Webster, Louisiana died in the crash.

Following a preliminary examination, the investigators determined that Roath was driving a 2018 Nissan Maxima heading south on LA Hwy 157. The cause(s) of the accident is still under investigation, but the vehicle veered off the road, collided with an embankment, and then overturned before hitting a tree. Roath, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partly thrown out of the car.

The Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed the passing of Roath at the location of the incident. Despite no indications of impairment, customary toxicology samples have been gathered for further analysis. The investigation into this collision remains ongoing.

Troopers strongly urge all drivers to exercise sound judgment while operating a motor vehicle. Avoid driving while under the influence, exhausted, or distracted, obey all traffic regulations, and ensure proper restraint for all occupants. Though not all crashes can be survived, these simple measures can often be the deciding factor between life and death.

So far in 2023, Troop G has investigated a total of 14 fatal crashes, resulting in the loss of 14 lives.
