Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in June 19 Crash on LA 8
Louisiana – On June 19, 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 8 near Harrisonburg, Louisiana, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Rene D. Graham, 33, of Sicily Island, Louisiana, was killed in the crash. The initial investigation revealed that Graham was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado east on Louisiana Highway 8. Graham’s vehicle went off the right side of the road, hit a ditch embankment, and overturned for unknown reasons. Graham was ejected from the vehicle as a result of this action.
Graham was unrestrained and died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. A toxicology sample was collected and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.
While not all accidents are avoidable, proper use of seat belts can significantly reduce an occupant’s risk of death and injury. Making certain that all occupants are properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
Troop E has investigated 17 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 18 deaths.
