Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Early Morning Rollover Crash on LA 112, Speed Suspected to be a Factor

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troopers from LSP Troop D responded to a single-vehicle fatal incident on LA Hwy 112 near Soapstone Road in Allen Parish shortly before 1:30 a.m. on July 31, 2022. Cody Allen Reeves, 34, of Sugartown, Louisiana was killed in the crash.

The early investigation found that Reeves was driving an eastbound 2001 Dodge pickup truck on LA 112. For unknown reasons, Reeves lost control of the vehicle and drifted off the road to the right. The Dodge then returned across the road, collided with a tree, and flipped.

At the time of the crash, Reeves was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is also considered to have had a role in this accident. A toxicological sample was acquired from Reeves and will be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists that, while not all incidents are survivable, statistics suggest that when properly restrained, the odds of surviving a crash increase dramatically. Please keep in mind that car accidents are entirely avoidable. Making sound driving decisions and following all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death.

Troop D has investigated 13 fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths so far in 2022.
