Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in Early Morning Crash on LA 361

Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police stated on November 10, 2022, that at around 3:15 a.m., LSP Troop E responded to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 361. Lance Joseph Richard, 29, of Opelousas, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

The initial inquiry found that Richard was driving a 2013 Toyota Avalon north on Louisiana Highway 361. Richard's vehicle went off the road for unknown reasons before colliding with several trees.

Unrestrained Richard suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead. A toxicological sample was collected and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.

While not all accidents are avoidable, the correct use of seat belts can significantly lower an occupant's risk of death and injury. Making certain that all occupants are properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.

Troop E investigated 50 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 52 deaths.
