Unrestrained Louisiana Man Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on US 84
Louisiana – On October 31, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 84 east of Clarence, Louisiana. Thomas Kennedy, 42, of Winnfield, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The initial inquiry found that Kennedy was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on US Highway 84. Kennedy’s vehicle crossed the centerlines into the eastbound travel lane for unknown reasons and collided with a 2021 Kenworth.
Kennedy, who was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The commercial vehicle’s driver, who was restrained, was unharmed. Routine toxicological samples were collected and analyzed.
While the reason for this crash is still being investigated, LSP noted that distracted and inattentive driving is still a significant cause of accidents in our state. Louisiana State Police advises all motorists to drive cautiously. A failure in judgment can have fatal repercussions.
So far in 2022, Troop E has investigated 46 fatal crashes resulting in 48 deaths.
