Rapides Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop E was called to a single-vehicle crash near Louisiana Highway 115 on Louisiana Highway 1207 on September 21, 2023, around 12:15 a.m. The crash sadly resulted in the death of Tyler Thiels (also known as T&T, aged 32, of Deville, Louisiana.

The preliminary inquiry showed that a 1997 Nissan Pickup, operated by Thiels, was going south on Louisiana Highway 1207. For reasons yet to be determined, the Nissan strayed off the road, collided with a culvert and some small trees, and then flipped over. As a result of this incident, Thiels was thrown out of the vehicle.

Thiels, who wasn’t restrained, sustained lethal injuries and was declared dead on site. Regular drug and alcohol tests were conducted and sent for examination.

Although not all crashes can be survived, the correct use of seat belts can significantly lower an occupant’s risk of fatality and could drastically minimize injuries. Consistently making sure that all passengers are appropriately secured can often distinguish between survival and fatality.

So far in 2023, LSP Troop E has investigated 42 deadly crashes, which have led to the loss of 46 lives.
