Prairieville, Louisiana – On March 13, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 westbound, near mile marker 170, close to the LA 928 overpass in Ascension Parish. The incident resulted in the death of 41-year-old Dwayne Jackson, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Jackson was driving a 2006 Nissan Titan in the right lane of the highway when the crash occurred. At the same time, a 2025 Freightliner tractor-trailer was attempting to merge onto the roadway from the right shoulder. For reasons that remain unclear, the front of Jackson’s Titan collided with the rear of the Freightliner.
Jackson was reportedly unrestrained during the incident and sustained severe injuries. He was promptly transported to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. In contrast, the driver of the Freightliner was properly restrained and emerged from the incident without any injuries.
Authorities have stated that while impairment is currently unknown, standard toxicology samples will be collected and analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation. Louisiana State Police emphasize the importance of safe driving practices and urge motorists to make responsible decisions behind the wheel. This includes avoiding distractions, fatigue, and impairment.
