Unrestrained Louisiana Man Dies in Crash on LA 91 After He Collided with a Culvert and Was Ejected From the Vehicle
Acadia Parish, Louisiana – An unrestrained Louisiana man died in a crash on LA 91 after his vehicle collided with a culvert and he was ejected.
On April 29, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated that Troopers of Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 91 near Sandpiper Road in Acadia Parish soon before 11:30 p.m. on April 28, 2023. Chad Andrew Breaux, 42, of Gueydan, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The crash occurred while Breaux was driving a 2007 Mercedes-Benz northbound on LA 91, according to the initial investigation by State Police. The Mercedes-Benz exited the route to the right, entered the ditch, and collided with a culvert for unknown reasons. The Mercedes-Benz flipped after colliding with the culvert.
Authorities indicated that Breaux was not restrained at the time of the crash and as a result was partially ejected from the vehicle. The Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene. A toxicological sample was acquired for study, and the crash is still being investigated.
Louisiana State Troopers urge motorists to always make sound judgments when driving. Never drive while inebriated, fatigued, or distracted, and always make sure all occupants are securely fastened. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can often mean the difference between life and death.
So far in 2023, Troop I has investigated 19 fatal crashes that resulted in 21 deaths.
