Unrestrained Louisiana Man and Woman Killed, Two Others Injured in Weekend Crash

Louisiana – On August 21, 2022, Louisiana State Police confirmed that on Saturday, August 20, 2022, just after 9:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to LSP Troop G began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Bellevue Road near Pease Meadow Road. Holly Budd, 54, and Noel William Budd, 76, of Haughton Louisiana, were both unrestrained and died in this crash.

The initial inquiry revealed Holly was driving a 2014 Nissan Rogue northbound on Bellevue Road. At the same time, a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder was driving south on Bellevue Road. Holly ran off the road and then overcorrected, causing her vehicle to cross the center line and hit head-on with the Pathfinder in the southbound lane.

The unrestrained Holly and Noel suffered severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner. Both Pathfinder occupants were wearing seat belts and were sent to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, but the passenger sustained life-threatening ones.

Although impairment is not thought to be a factor in this crash, regular toxicological samples were collected and sent for examination. The crash is still being investigated.

While not all accidents are avoidable, statistics suggest that wearing your seat belt properly reduces your chances of being injured or killed in an accident. Louisiana law requires that everyone in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, wear their seat belts at all times. Wearing your seat belt correctly is one of the most effective ways to save your life and limit injuries in a car accident.

Troop G has investigated 24 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 26 deaths.
