Union Parish, Louisiana – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F launched an investigation into a deadly two-vehicle collision on Saturday, November 11, 2023, just before 5:00 p.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of LA Hwy 15 and Kyle Road and tragically resulted in the loss of Errick Lawson II, aged 32, of West Monroe, Louisiana.
Initial findings indicated that Lawson II was driving a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Camaro on LA Hwy 15 when it collided with a southbound 2023 Freightliner Cascadia Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) at Kyle Road. According to reports from LSP, Lawson II was not restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner’s Office. The CMV driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
While there is no suspicion of impairment, standard toxicology samples were collected for analysis. The crash is currently under investigation.
Troopers emphasized the importance of making responsible choices while operating a vehicle, including avoiding impairment, fatigue, or distractions, adhering to traffic laws, and ensuring all occupants are properly secured. These precautions can significantly impact the outcome of accidents. In 2023 alone, Troop F has handled 37 fatal crashes resulting in 45 deaths.
