Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Just before 10:00 p.m. on May 8, 2024, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A arrived at the scene of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of LA 37 and Monticello Blvd. Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of Patrick George Isadore, a 41-year-old resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The initial investigation showed that Isadore was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe north on LA 37 toward a red light at the intersection of Monticello Blvd. Meanwhile, a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu was turning left onto Monticello Blvd from the south on LA 37. Without explanation, Isadore drove through the intersection at a red light, causing the front of the Tahoe to hit the right side of the Malibu. Following the collision, the Tahoe spun and flipped over.

Isadore, who was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash, was partially thrown out of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Malibu, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, had moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear if either was impaired at the time of the crash, but tests will be conducted. The incident is still being looked into.

Louisiana State Police said that statistics indicate that wearing your seat belt correctly can significantly decrease the likelihood of being seriously injured or dying in a vehicle crash, even though not all crashes can be survived. In Louisiana, it is mandatory for all occupants of a vehicle to wear a seat belt, no matter where they are seated. Ensuring that you wear your seat belt properly is crucial for increasing the chances of survival and minimizing injuries in the event of a crash.
