Unrestrained Louisiana Child Succumbs to Injuries Suffered in Crash on I-20, Impairment Suspected as a Factor
Bossier Parish, Louisiana – An unrestrained Louisiana child has succumbed to injuries suffered in a crash on I-20.
Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported on February 7, 2023, that on Monday, February 6, 2023, shortly after 7:30 a.m., Troopers assigned to LSP Troop G began investigating a one-vehicle serious injury crash on I-20, west of LA Hwy 157. India Moore, a six-year-old child who was unrestrained at the time, was killed in the crash.
The initial investigation revealed that Trodarian Moore, 30, of Minden, Louisiana, was driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne west on I-20. Moore exited the road and collided with a tree for unknown reasons.
Authorities indicated that Trodarion was not restrained. Both occupants were taken to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport with potentially fatal injuries.
Troop G was notified on the afternoon of February 7 that India had died as a result of her injuries at LSU Ochsner Health in Shreveport.
Louisiana State Police said that this crash is suspected to have been caused by impairment. Routine toxicology samples were collected and analyzed. The crash is still being investigated.
Drivers should be aware that alcohol and other drugs have a variety of effects on the body. Alcohol and other drugs can impair vision, alter one’s sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills required to drive a car, and decrease reaction times. Regardless of seating position or length of trip, Louisiana law requires all motorists to be restrained.
Troop G has investigated five fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in five deaths.
