West Monroe, Louisiana - A Texas man died following a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 143 late Friday night, according to Louisiana State Police Troop F.

Daniel McGinty, 56, of Galveston, Texas, was pronounced dead at a hospital in Louisiana after his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway and struck a tree near Old Wall Lake Road. The crash occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. on November 14, 2025.

Troopers determined McGinty was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 143 when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road. Investigators have not yet determined why McGinty's Silverado departed the roadway.

McGinty was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers said. The impact caused serious injuries that ultimately proved fatal.

Emergency responders transported McGinty to a nearby hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.

Louisiana State Police investigators suspect impairment may have played a role in the crash. Troopers collected routine toxicology samples from McGinty, which will be submitted to a laboratory for analysis. Those results typically take several weeks to process and return to investigators.

The investigation into the crash remains active as troopers work to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the deadly collision.
