Unidentified Driver Dies in Fiery Crash Near Kinder, LA
Published February 10, 2022
Kinder, LA – Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers from LSP Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sherman Houston Road and Kinder Cemetery Road in Allen Parish on February 9, 2022, shortly before 8:15 p.m. An unidentified driver was killed in the crash.
An unidentified driver was driving a Hyundai Genesis west on Sherman Houston Road, according to the investigation. The driver failed to yield at a posted stop sign for unknown reasons, continued through the intersection, and collided with a tree. The driver was ejected as a result of the collision, and the Hyundai burst into flames.
As a result of the crash, the unidentified driver was killed. The Allen Parish Coroner’s Office is awaiting positive identification. Speed and a lack of seat belt use are thought to be factors. This crash is still being investigated.
Day or night, Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions. Statistics show that wearing a seat belt increases one’s chances of survival in a crash, but not wearing a seat belt can have fatal consequences.
Speeding impairs a driver’s ability to safely navigate around curves or objects in the road. Speeding also increases the distance required to stop a vehicle and can result in a more serious collision if the vehicle collides with another object.
So far, Troop D has investigated 2 fatal crashes resulting in 2 deaths in 2022.
