Two-Vehicle Crash on LA 125 Results in the Death of One Louisiana Woman and Another Injured.

LaSalle Parish, Louisiana – A two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 125 resulted in the death of one Louisiana woman and injured another. 

Louisiana State Police (LSP) reported that on January 28, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., LSP Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 125 at Louisiana Highway 124. Julia Walker, 68, of Winnfield, Louisiana, was killed in this crash.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2018 Toyota Rav4, driven by Faye Johns, 70, of Winnfield, Louisiana, was preparing to turn at the intersection of Louisiana Highways 124 and 125. For unknown reasons, Johns turned left onto Louisiana Highway 125 but reportedly failed to yield to a southbound 1999 Kenworth commercial vehicle. As a result, Johns’ vehicle was hit by the Kenworth.

Johns and her passenger (Walker), who were both restrained, suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Troop E was notified at about 10:00 p.m. that Walker had died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the Kenworth, who was also restrained, suffered no injuries.

While the cause of this crash is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of crashes in our state. The Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to drive cautiously. A lapse in awareness can be fatal.

Troopers with LSP Troop E have investigated two fatal crashes so far in 2023 that resulted in two fatalities.
