Metairie, Louisiana - A multi-vehicle crash on LA 3152 near King Street in Jefferson Parish has claimed the lives of two elderly New Orleans residents, according to Louisiana State Police Troop B, who began investigating the incident on Monday, June 9, 2025.
The victims, 80-year-old Oscar Carter IV and 77-year-old Martha Bradford, both of New Orleans, Louisiana, died from serious injuries sustained in the crash. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene, while Bradford later succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
According to the preliminary investigation, Carter was driving a 2013 Infiniti G37 northbound in the center lane of LA 3152 near King Street. Simultaneously, a Nissan Altima was traveling in the left lane of the same highway. For reasons still under investigation, the Infiniti driven by Carter veered into the left lane and collided with the right side of the Nissan.
Following this initial impact, Carter's vehicle entered the median and struck a tree. The Nissan crossed the median into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes of LA 3152, where it collided with a 2020 Buick Encore.
Investigators noted that neither Carter nor Bradford was properly restrained at the time of the crash, potentially contributing to the severity of their injuries.
The rear-seat passenger in Carter's Infiniti and all occupants of both the Nissan and Buick were properly restrained at the time of the crash. These individuals suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While impairment is not currently suspected as a factor in the crash, Louisiana State Police investigators collected routine toxicology samples which have been submitted for analysis, as required by state protocols. The investigation remains ongoing, with troopers continuing to examine evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident.
