Two Sentenced by a Federal Court in Louisiana to 34 Years Combined for Drug Charges

Louisiana – Leon Henry, age 39, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jabar Gibson, age 36, of New Orleans, Louisiana, were sentenced on April 19, 2022 before the Honorable Jay C. Zainey on charges of violating the Federal Controlled Substances Act, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.

According to court documents, Henry and Gibson conspired to possess with intent to distribute and distribute a quantity of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of heroin and a quantity of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine. Henry admitted to sending two couriers with kilograms of heroin and cocaine between Baton Rouge and Houston.

Judge Zainey sentenced Henry to 225 months (18 years and 9 months) in the federal Bureau of Prisons and Gibson to 188 months (15 years and 8 months). Each received three years of supervised release as well as a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Special Agents investigated this case (DEA). Assistant United States Attorney David Haller is in charge of the prosecution.
