Two Men and a Juvenile Arrested in Louisiana in Connection with Home Burglary After Foot Pursuit in St John the Baptist Parish

St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – Two men and a juvenile have been arrested in Louisiana in connection with a home burglary after a foot pursuit in St John the Baptist Parish.

The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed on April 25, 2023, that two men and a male juvenile were arrested after allegedly shattering a window and a sliding glass door to break into a LaPlace, Louisiana residence on Monday, April 24, 2023. Clarence Alvis, 20, of LaPlace, Louisiana, Antione Nelson, 18, of Garyville, Louisiana, and a 16-year-old juvenile from LaPlace, Louisiana were arrested.

According to reports, officers arrived at the 400 block of Camelia Avenue in LaPlace on Monday, April 24, 2023, around 11 a.m., in reference to three male individuals breaking into a property.

Officers reported seeing a male individual, later identified as Nelson, come from the back of a residence on Camelia Avenue wearing full black clothing and a black ski mask. While authorities gave verbal commands for Nelson to stop, he raced to the backyard of a Magnolia Drive property, leaped over a fence, and into another Magnolia Drive backyard. Officers then spotted two other male subjects, later identified as Alvis and the 16-year-old juvenile, fleeing from the Camelia residence, jumping a fence, and running toward Magnolia Drive while wearing all black clothing and black masks.

As the foot pursuit of the subjects on Magnolia Drive continued, police and SWAT officers detained all three suspects.

According to authorities, a stolen firearm was reportedly located on Alvis’ person by officers. They also located a backpack belonging to the 16-year-old with jars and bags of marijuana. Officers discovered a suitcase containing several pairs of shoes and a Play Station 5 stolen from a home in the 400 block of Camelia Avenue in the backyard.

Officers reportedly uncovered a shattered rear kitchen window as well as a shattered rear sliding glass door during their inspection of the Camelia Avenue residence.

Alvis was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, simple criminal damage to property – under $1000; resisting an officer by flight, illegal possession of a stolen firearm; and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (felony). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $38,500 bond.

Nelson, 18, of Garyville was charged with contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, simple criminal damage to property – under $1000; resisting an officer by flight, and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (felony). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $13,500 bond.

The 16-year-old male was booked with simple criminal damage to property – under $1000; resisting an officer by flight; possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling (felony).

He is being held in custody at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
