Officers arrived at the area of Madewood Road in LaPlace at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, in connection to a preliminary report of an attempted carjacking involving two male suspects, one of whom had a gun.

Officers arrived and spoke with the 62-year-old male victim, who said that he was sitting in his truck in his yard in the 1200 block of Madewood Road when two unknown individuals in black clothing and hoods approached him from both sides of his vehicle. As the victim refused to hand over his wallet and exit the vehicle, the suspect on the passenger side pistol-whipped him, while the subject on the driver’s side grabbed his shirt and tried to drag him out. The subjects left on foot as the victim yelled for aid. When emergency personnel came, they treated the victim for minor injuries.
