Two Louisiana Men Have Been Sentenced in Separate Cases for Drug and Firearm Charges

Louisiana – Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced that two Louisiana men were sentenced in two separate cases on December 1, 2021, by United States District Judge Terry A. Doughty.
For possession of methamphetamine, Aaron Farrar, 24, of Sterlington, Louisiana, was sentenced to 126 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. On August 18, 2021, Farrar pleaded guilty to the charge. The charge arises from an investigation that began when US Postal Inspection Service officers intercepted a suspicious package on its way to Farrar’s Sterlington home address. A search warrant was acquired for the shipment, and agents discovered roughly 216 grams of methamphetamine hidden in a clock radio.
Law enforcement agents refilled the package with a small amount of methamphetamine and delivered it to Farrar at the address. When the package was opened, agents were contacted, and they conducted a search warrant on the home. During the search warrant execution, authorities discovered the package containing the methamphetamine as well as a loaded firearm with an extended magazine. Farrar informed police that the box was being delivered to his home for someone else and that he was intended to be compensated for delivering it to that person.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Aaron Crawford prosecuted the case.
For theft of a firearm from a licensed dealer, Michael James Carroll, 27, of Tallulah, Louisiana, was sentenced to 48 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Carroll entered Tallulah Gun Sales, a federal weapons licensee in Madison Parish, Louisiana, on or about June 30, 2020, and took a Glock pistol from the glass display case without permission. Carroll slid the gun into his waistband and walked out of the store. Officers retrieved the stolen Glock handgun from Carroll’s vehicle later that day during a traffic stop.
The ATF and Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leon H. Whitten prosecuted the case.
