Two Louisiana Men Cited for Multiple Game Bird Hunting Violations
Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) reported on November 23, 2022, that enforcement agents cited two persons on November 19 in Plaquemines Parish for alleged migratory game bird infractions.
Agents cited Justin Roser, 29, of Buras, Louisiana, and Zachary Falgout, 30, of Luling, Louisiana, for conducting a guided duck hunt without hunting guide licenses and for failing to comply with migratory game bird tagging regulations. Roser was also cited for possessing over the limit of migratory game birds and transporting fully dressed migratory game birds.
Agents caught Roser in Buras in possession of 32 cleaned migratory game birds with no distinguishing wings or heads attached. Roser told agents that the migratory game birds were from a guided hunt he and Falgout went on. When agents approached Falgout, he admitted to supplying the game birds to Roser.
Guiding without a hunting guide license, having more than the maximum of migrating game birds in your possession, transporting fully dressed migratory game birds, and breaking migratory game bird tagging rules can all result in a $950 fine and 120 days in jail.
Roser will also face civil compensation of $683 for illegally possessing the birds.
Lt. Adam Young, Sgt. Villere Reggio, and Corporal Austin Landry are the agents involved in the case. The case will be prosecuted by District Attorney Charles Ballay.
A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
