Two Louisiana Men Cited For Alleged Commercial Fishing Violations in Breton Sound Area of Plaquemines Parish

Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana – Two Louisiana men have been cited for alleged commercial fishing violations in the Breton Sound area of Plaquemines Parish.

On July 16, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents conducted a compliance check on a shrimping vessel in the Breton Sound of Plaquemines Parish. During the inspection, two men were cited for alleged commercial fishing violations. The men, identified as Dean Ancalade (40) and Jacob Landry (28), both residents of Venice, Louisiana were found to be taking commercial fish without a commercial fishing license. In addition, Ancalade was cited for fishing while under license revocation.

The agents seized 3,270 pounds of shrimp from the vessel and sold them to the highest bidder. The agents involved in the case were Lt. Adam Young, Senior Agent Shea Schexnaydre, and Senior Agent Heather Fitzgerald.

It should be noted that taking commercial fish without a commercial license can result in a fine of up to $950 and a jail sentence of up to 120 days. Similarly, fishing while under license revocation carries a maximum fine of $350.

Agents participating in the case are Lt. Adam Young and Senior Agent Shea Schexnaydre and Senior Agent Heather Fitzgerald.
