Two Louisiana Men Arrested in Connection with Shooting at Moss Bluff Bar

Moss Bluff, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office revealed on November 14, 2022, that on November 13 at around 12:30 a.m., CPSO deputies were summoned to a bar in the 200 block of Highway 171 in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, in relation to a shooting. Deputies reportedly came to find a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower back.

During the initial investigation, it was discovered that a physical conflict involving a significant number of people occurred outside the bar, during which numerous rounds were fired. Deputies discovered a firearm and multiple casings beside the victim.

Deputies and investigators from the CPSO were able to identify and locate two of the shooters, Justin D. Wareham, 40, and John M. Lapoint, Jr., 39, both of Westlake. They were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Wareham is charged with aggravated battery and illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrument while committing a crime of violence. Judge Tony Fazzio placed his bond at $250,000. Lapoint is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm; and illegal use of a weapon. Judge Tony Fazzio placed his bond at $200,000.

After additional investigation, authorities think the altercation and shooting occurred between members of the Bandidos MC, a well-known outlaw motorcycle club, and members of the Misfits MC.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. She is currently in stable condition.

Conner Coleman of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the arresting deputy in this case. Detective Barrett Savoie of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigator on this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
