Two Louisiana Men Arrested for Attempted Murder and Other Charges in Connection with a September Shooting

Louisiana – On September 30, 2022, Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that Jyairus Folse, 20, of Lockport, Louisiana, and Jamyren Richard, 23, of Raceland, Louisiana were arrested on Thursday for attempted murder for an alleged shooting that occurred earlier this month.

Deputies responded to a complaint of shots fired in the area of Ayo Street in Raceland on the afternoon of September 8, 2022. Deputies arrived and discovered multiple bullet casings near a property in the 500 block. The shooting had targeted a home. There was one individual inside who was not hit by gunshots. Deputies scoured the surrounding area for the shooters but were unable to locate anyone at the time.

Detectives identified Jyairus Folse and Jamyren Richard as suspects in the shooting and discovered they were allegedly targeting someone at the apartment. Folse and Richard were then arrested on one count each of attempted second-degree murder by investigators.

Deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended Richard during a traffic stop on Thursday evening, September 29. He was booked into the St. Charles Parish Nelson Coleman Correctional Center as a Lafourche Parish fugitive. In addition, he is being jailed on a federal weapons accusation.

Investigators found Folse outside a daiquiri shop in Raceland, Louisiana later Thursday evening. He was discovered to be in possession of a firearm reported stolen from the state of Georgia. Folse was detained and taken to Thibodaux’s Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. During the booking process, a little bag of marijuana was discovered on his person. He was arrested on warrants for attempted second-degree murder and contempt of court, as well as transporting contraband to a penal institution and possessing a stolen firearm. The final bail amount has yet to be determined.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
