Two Louisiana Men Arrested, Authorities Still Seeking One in Connection with Multiple Vehicle Burglaries in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Two Louisiana men have been arrested for several vehicle burglaries in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and have been charged with several counts of simple burglary, theft, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; one suspect remains unidentified.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO), deputies were dispatched to a trailer park on Tom Hebert Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana in the early morning hours of Monday, January 2, in reference to unknown individuals burglarizing several vehicles.

Deputies in the area discovered two people on foot, later identified as Von K. Maurx, 27, and Raymond L. Pate, 25, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana, in a trailer park on E. Gauthier Road. Maurx and Pate fled on foot and jumped a fence when deputies attempted to contact them. They were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. During the course of the investigation, deputies reportedly discovered a firearm as well as some of the stolen property from the vehicle burglaries on Tom Hebert Road.

Maurx and Pate were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where they were charged with two counts of simple burglary, theft under $1,000, and flight resisting an officer. Pate was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of marijuana after it was located on his person.
According to authorities, detectives discovered Maurx, Pate, and an unknown suspect were responsible for several vehicle burglaries that occurred on Saturday, December 31, on Red Davis McCollister Road in Lake Charles, where three firearms, as well as cash and personal items, were stolen.

Maurx and Pate were also charged with four counts of simple burglary, three counts of theft of a firearm, and one count of theft less than $1,000. Pate was also charged with three counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Maurx’s bond was set at $91,500, and Pate’s bond was set at $137,000.

The third suspect in the Red Davis McCollister Road burglaries remains unidentified.
