Two Louisiana Men Arrested After Police find 70 Pounds of Mushroom Chocolate Bars, 401 Ecstasy Pills, and Other Drugs During Traffic Stop

Louisiana - Two Louisiana men have been arrested and charged with eight counts of possession of CDS I with intent to distribute after 70 pounds of psychoactive mushroom chocolate bars, 401 ecstasy pills, and other drugs were reportedly found in their vehicle.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office stated on January 9, 2023, that on January 5, K-9 Deputies assigned to the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 49 for a traffic violation.

Deputies approached the motorist, later identified as Jacob Boulet, and informed him of the cause for the stop. The deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle while conversing with Boulet at the driver's door. Deputies reportedly requested permission to search the vehicle due to their concerns, but Boulet refused. Deputies then asked Boulet and the lone passenger, later identified as Aaron Foy, to exit the vehicle as a narcotics detection K-9 sniffed the air around the vehicle.

K-9 "Beny" performed the free air sniff and detected narcotics originating from within the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered two taped USPS boxes and a brown cardboard box in the rear baggage. The boxes contained approximately 70 pounds of psychoactive mushroom chocolate bars (487 bars), 401 ecstasy pills, 22 THC vape pens, 14 sealed packs of THC gummies, 5 ounces of THC wax, 3 ounces of marijuana, 1.2 pounds of dried mushrooms, and 2 chocolate THC infused bars, according to an inspection.

Deputies arrested Boulet and Foy and took them to the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where they were both charged with eight counts of possession of CDS I with intent to distribute. In addition, Boulet was charged with improper lane usage and having an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. At the time of publication, both suspects were still in custody. Boult is being held on a bond of $40,200.00, while Foy is being held on a bond of $40,000.00.

According to RADE agents, their investigation is still ongoing.
