Two Louisiana Men Arrested After Allegedly Stealing and Stripping a Boat

Louisiana – The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on December 7, 2022, that two Destrehan, Louisiana males were recently apprehended after allegedly stealing a boat and stripping it of equipment and components at a LaPlace boat launch. Rock Schexnaydre, 23, and Christian Schexnayder, 21, were both charged with felony theft ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.

Officers responded at the Ruddock U.S. 51 launch on May 25, 2022, in regard to a theft. Officers arrived and discovered the victim had an issue at home and had to leave the boat parked at the launch. When the victim returned to the launch the next day to pick up the boat, she noticed it sinking in a canal. After retrieving the boat, the victim learned that the motor, diving equipment, fishing rigs, and other equipment worth around $9,000 had been taken.

Detectives developed Schexnaydre and Schexnayder as suspects after conducting an investigation and reviewing video surveillance at the launch. Detectives acquired judicial arrest orders for the guys based on their findings. Schexnaydre was arrested and freed on a $25,000 bail on November 25, 2022. Schexnayder was arrested and freed on a $25,000 bail on November 28, 2022.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
