Denham Springs, Louisiana – A devastating two-vehicle crash on LA 16 in Livingston Parish late Friday night claimed the lives of two individuals and left another with serious injuries.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred shortly before midnight on June 28, 2024, near Bailey Lane. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Infiniti M35, traveling southbound on LA 16, crossed the centerline and collided with a 2005 Dodge Neon heading northbound.
The driver of the Dodge Neon, 28-year-old Kenneth M. Broussard II of Prairieville, Louisiana was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash but sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front passenger in the Infiniti, 22-year-old Abigail Wheat of Denham Springs, Louisiana was not restrained and also suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti, who was also unrestrained, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation, and the cause of the Infiniti crossing the centerline is still unknown. Toxicology samples will be taken and analyzed to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.
