Two From Louisiana Arrested in Connection with Package Thefts and Other Crimes in DeRidder
DeRidder, Louisiana – The DeRidder Police Department reported on December 8, 2022, that on December 6, at around 3 p.m., the Patrol Division responded to a package theft report in the Green Acres Subdivision. Upon acquiring surveillance footage from the victim and other residents, DRPD was able to identify a suspect vehicle and obtain high-quality footage of one of the suspects.
At around 1 p.m. on December 7, 2022, a vehicle matching the description was spotted and a traffic stop was made. Benjamin Suire, 36, of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Robert Anthony Bebee, Jr., 29, also of DeRidder, Louisiana, were in the vehicle.
The inquiry revealed Bebee to be the individual in the video and Suire to be the vehicle’s driver. The majority of the items were seized from Bebee’s residence. Other property was found and is suspected to be related to package thefts, although officers have not yet identified the owners.
Due to the thefts, Suire and Bebee were placed in jail for Theft and Criminal Conspiracy. Bebee was also arrested for further drug-related offenses.
During the Christmas holiday season, the DeRidder Police Department would like to encourage homeowners to be mindful of their deliveries and watchful for suspicious people and cars in their areas. Police ask residents to let them know if they observe anything or anyone strange, and they will dispatch a patrol of the area.
In addition, they stated that they will examine every call of this sort and that an officer’s presence is sometimes sufficient to deter criminal activity.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
