Two From Louisiana Arrested in Connection with October 2022 Shooting on I-12

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Two people from Louisiana have been arrested in connection with an October 2022 shooting on I-12.

The Baton Rouge Police Department stated on February 22, 2023, that Homicide Detectives, the Baton Rouge Street Crimes Division, and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force apprehended Avery Hall, 24, and Jacoby Hibbler, 18, in the 4400 block of South Sherwood Forest Blvd.

Hall was arrested and is suspected of murdering Toby Taylor, 28. On October 8, 2022, at about 3:00 a.m., a shooting happened on I-12. Upon arrest, uniformed officers reportedly confiscated 1,000 grams of marijuana, 13 grams of mushrooms, an undetermined quantity of money, and 2 weapons, one of which was reported stolen.

Hall was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 1st Degree Murder, PWID Schedule 1, Resisting, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Firearm with CDS. Hibbler was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Marijuana Possession, Firearm Possession with CDS, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearm, and Resisting.

These arrests arise from a homicide investigation for the shooting of a 28-year-old man victim and a 25-year-old male victim that occurred early during the morning of October 8, 2022, at around 3:00 am on I-12.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, and his passenger, a 28-year-old, were going westbound on I-12 when they were targeted by gunfire between Airline Hwy and Drusilla Lane. The motorist then proceeded to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
