Two From Louisiana Arrested, and One Issued a Citation After Traffic Stop in Jennings

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – Two individuals from Louisiana were arrested, and one was issued a citation after a traffic stop in Jennings.

According to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deputies stopped a black Chevrolet Tahoe with switched license plates at the intersection of Highway 102 and North Frontage Road in Jennings, Louisiana on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Reports from Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office indicated that deputies recognized all of the occupants of the vehicle from past contacts and their participation with illegal substances.
A K-9 was requested, and it reportedly detected the presence of narcotics. Kyle Reed, 28, of Jennings, Louisiana, was the driver, and the passengers were Halie Santiago, 24, of Jennings, Louisiana, and Kayla Crochet, 27, of Jennings, Louisiana.

The vehicle was searched and alprazolam tablets, Diazepam pills, about 4 ounces of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and a scale with two glass smoking devices were discovered. The vehicle’s three occupants were all arrested.

Reed was charged with CDS II possession and drug paraphernalia possession.

Santiago was charged with two counts of possession of CDS II, two counts of possession of CDS IV, two counts of bringing contraband into a penal facility, and two counts of possession of CDS II with intent to distribute.

Crochet was charged with drug paraphernalia possession and freed on a citation.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
