Two Defendants in Louisiana Have Been Sentenced to 10 Years Each in Prison for Drug Trafficking Offenses

Shreveport, Louisiana - Two defendants in the Shreveport/Bossier City region of Louisiana have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking offenses. Timothy DeWayne Vasher and Misty Michell Moran a/k/a Misty Ott were found guilty of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and methamphetamine, respectively.

United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, that two defendants found guilty of drug trafficking in the Shreveport/Bossier City region of Louisiana have been sentenced by United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr.

Timothy DeWayne Vasher, age 20, of Shreveport, Louisiana, was sentenced today to ten years in prison and three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of guns during a narcotics trafficking incident. On August 11, 2021, Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office deputies executed a traffic check and made contact with Vasher, the vehicle's driver. Agents of the law noticed the stench of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and performed a search based on probable cause. Inside the center console, deputies discovered baggies containing 3 to 5 grams of marijuana and a loaded.45 caliber Glock Model 21 pistol. Deputies discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson Model M&P AR-15 weapon with a 50-round drum inside the trunk. The AR-15 had a barrel length of 8 7/8 inches and a total length of 23 7/8 inches, however, it was not registered with the National Firearm Registration and Transfer Records (NFRTR). Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) agents determined that the firearms were operational and that the AR-15 was stolen. The North Louisiana Crime Lab examined the drugs and determined that they were marijuana.

The ATF and Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office investigated this case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Aaron Crawford.

Misty Michell Moran a/k/a Misty Ott, 46, of Shreveport, Louisiana, was also sentenced today for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine to 120 months (10 years) in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) obtained information in January 2022 that Moran was transporting substantial quantities of methamphetamine from the Dallas, Texas area to the Shreveport, Louisiana area. Agents discovered via their investigation that Moran routinely made these excursions. On February 21, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana State Police officers executed a traffic stop on Moran's car for speeding. Officers discovered a plastic dish containing probable methamphetamine on the passenger seat, an SCCY Model CPX-2 9mm handgun mounted to the front dashboard, and over $2,000 in cash. The DEA Crime Lab determined that the confiscated narcotics included 998 grams of pure methamphetamine after receiving the drugs.

The DEA and Louisiana State Police investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Aaron Crawford.
