Two Arrested in West Monroe Suspected of Burglarizing Vehicles at a Park and Funeral Home and Other Crimes
West Monroe, Louisiana – Two people were arrested in West Monroe on suspicion of burglarizing vehicles at a park and funeral home, as well as other crimes.
The West Monroe Police Department (WMPD) reported on May 25, 2023, that it received several claims of various vehicle burglaries at Kiroli Park and Mulhearn’s Funeral Home during a funeral. WMPD was quickly able to verify that the victim’s bank cards had been used to purchase gift cards at a local business, and their communications division assisted in identifying the suspect’s vehicle.
The WMPD Detective Division was able to locate and identify the suspects with the assistance of the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO). Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Antwalaja Williams, 22, and Chearka Thomas, 36, on similar parish offenses.
Both suspects will be put into the Ouachita Correctional Center on warrants for four counts of burglary, three counts of theft, and one count of criminal conspiracy at a later date.
The victims’ property was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
