Westlake, Louisiana – Drivers traveling through Westlake on US 90 can expect lane closures and possible delays on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, as crews remove trees along the highway, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

DOTD announced that tree removal work will take place on the north side of US 90 between Trousdale Road and Louisiana Highway 108. The work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., during daytime hours when traffic volumes are typically higher, which may increase congestion in the area.

The department said lane closures will be in place at the following intersections within the work zone:

  • US 90 and Walcot Road
  • US 90 and Center Avenue

The closures are necessary so DOTD can assist Entergy with tree removal operations. Entergy is the electric utility company serving much of the region, and tree work near power lines is commonly done to protect electrical infrastructure and reduce the risk of outages during storms or high winds.

Although no detours were announced in the notice, drivers using US 90 through Westlake are advised to plan for extra travel time, use caution when approaching the work areas, and watch for crews and equipment near the roadway. Lane closures often reduce traffic to a single usable lane, and motorists should be prepared for slower speeds and brief stops.

The work is limited to one day, and the lane closures are only expected to be in place during the 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. window, weather permitting. No additional dates were provided in the announcement.
