Tree Removal to Close East Burton Street in Sulphur: Detours and Delays Expected

Sulphur, Louisiana – Motorists in Sulphur are advised to prepare for a four-day road closure on East Burton Street, also known as the Old Spanish Trail, starting Tuesday, July 16, as tree removal work gets underway. The closure will affect a stretch of approximately 800 feet, from Bright Road to Moss Road, and is scheduled to last until Friday, July 19.

To minimize disruptions, drivers are encouraged to follow designated detour routes.

Those heading west on East Burton Street should turn south at the roundabout onto Coach Williams Drive, then continue west on East Napoleon Street to North Post Oak Road, and finally head north on North Post Oak Road to reach East Burton Street again.

Eastbound drivers on East Burton Street should detour south on North Post Oak Road to East Napoleon Street, then head east on East Napoleon Street, and finally turn north onto Coach Williams Drive to return to East Burton Street.

Clear signage will be in place to guide motorists through the detours.

With the road closure expected to cause delays, drivers are urged to exercise caution and patience when navigating the area. The tree removal work is essential to ensuring the safety and maintenance of the road infrastructure.

The road closure is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 19. Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow extra time for their journeys.
