Washington Parish, Louisiana - At around 11:00 a.m. on November 13, 2023, Louisiana State Police Troop L initiated an investigation into a collision involving two vehicles on LA 10 near LA 62 in Pine Louisiana.

The crash resulted in the death of Bryan Schneider, aged 64, from Mount Herman, Louisiana. Initial findings indicated that Darnelle Leblanc, aged 48 and from Folsom, Louisiana, was driving a westbound 2010 Chevrolet Suburban on LA 10 near LA 62 when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2009 Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on LA 10.

This collision caused fatal injuries to Schneider and minor injuries to the front-seat passenger of the Toyota, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Leblanc sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Samples for toxicology analysis were collected from both drivers as part of routine procedure. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Louisiana State Police emphasized the preventable nature of many motor vehicle crashes and highlighted that impairment contributes to almost half of all fatal crashes in Louisiana. Motorists were urged to plan for safe transportation by designating a sober driver and avoiding impaired driving or riding without wearing seat belts.
