Starks, Louisiana – A devastating single-vehicle crash occurred in the early hours of June 16 on Green Moore Road near Doyle Cemetery Road in Starks, Louisiana. Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at approximately 3:00 a.m.
According to the initial investigation, a truck was traveling north on Green Moore Road when it crossed the centerline, veered off the roadway, and struck a tree. Tragically, the driver, 21-year-old Shawn D. Dreyer of Orange, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the truck was airlifted to a local hospital with serious bodily injuries and is currently listed in critical condition. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but speed is suspected to be a contributing factor. At this time, it is unknown whether the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
As per state law, a toxicology report will be conducted to determine if any substances were involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
