Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident Claims Life of Lake Charles Man – Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigates

On May 30, 2024, around 4:15 p.m., deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were sent to the intersection of Goodman Road and Opelousas Street in Lake Charles after a report was made of a possible body.

Upon arrival, deputies saw a body on the road that was later confirmed to be Larry J. Bushnell, a 64-year-old from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Further examination revealed that the injuries sustained by the victim were likely caused by a hit-and-run incident.

The inquiry is ongoing. The cause of death will be determined by the coroner.

Cpl. Kerrick Gabriel, Jr., from CPSO is in charge of investigating this case.
