Rapides Parish, Louisiana – During the early hours of November 4, 2023, at around 1:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E swiftly responded to a single-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 71 near Cheneyville, Louisiana. Tragically, the crash claimed the life of Adam Tanner, a 34-year-old individual from Alexandria, Louisiana.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Tanner was driving a 2018 Ford Fusion and heading north on U.S. Highway 71 when his vehicle inexplicably veered off the road, launched into the air, and collided with a tree. Regrettably, Tanner was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and suffered fatal injuries upon impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

As part of standard procedure, toxicology samples were collected for analysis to shed further light on this incident. The investigation into this crash is ongoing.

It is important to note that while not all crashes are survivable, utilizing seat belts correctly can significantly reduce an occupant’s risk of death and minimize potential injuries sustained. Ensuring that each person in a vehicle is properly restrained can truly make all the difference between life and death in critical situations.

So far in 2023, Troop E has investigated a total of 46 fatal crashes resulting in 51 deaths.
