Traffic Stop in Louisiana Leads to Arrest of Man with Active Warrants and Allegedly in Possession of Drugs and a Firearm
Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A Traffic Stop in Louisiana led to the arrest of a man with active warrants and allegedly in possession of drugs and a firearm.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced on March 6, 2023, that a convicted felon with active warrants was arrested during a traffic stop on Friday afternoon. Thomas Barker, 42, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, was also found with a firearm and drugs in his automobile, according to reports.
Deputies in the Mathews, Louisiana area noticed a man driving a red truck who they knew as Thomas Barker at 1:30 p.m. on March 3, 2023. Deputies executed a traffic stop on LA Highway 308 knowing Barker had outstanding warrants. Thomas was apprehended without incident by deputies. Thomas allegedly admitted to possibly having narcotics and paraphernalia in the truck and agreed to a vehicle search.
During the search, deputies reportedly discovered several grams of methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as multiple pills classified as clonazepam, Tramadol, and another prescription-only medication. They also discovered a firearm and drug paraphernalia.
Barker was arrested and booked into Thibodaux’s Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. He was booked on six warrants for contempt of court. He was also charged with methamphetamine and marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with an obliterated number, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
The bail amount is set at $117,850.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
